Flowers with a Face
Cheerful, blooming faces gracing garden beds and borders, Pansies are among the first of the season to offer winter color in many areas. With their petals lying flat and necks reaching up towards the sun, Pansies blanket areas in solid and multi-colored patterns. Hardy flowers that showcase their optimistic blooms in containers and hanging baskets, pansies are also a great companion plant to other spring flowers like tulips and daffodils.
Warmer zones can plant Pansies in the fall and enjoy their chipper blooms all winter and into spring. Colder climates as far north as Zone 4 can overwinter established pansy plants for spring blooms that will arrive far earlier than many other varieties.
